Italy - Road to Euro

Fabio Cannavaro - star of the Team
Fabio Cannavaro – an Italian footballer born on 13th September 1973 in Naples. This player’s position is defence. His debut in Serie A took place on 7th March 1993 in SSC Napoli. Effective play in defense resulted in transfer to Parma where he spent as much as 7 seasons and confirmed his position of a true star and one of the best central defenders of the world. In 2002 he changed the club and moved to Milan to play in Inter. After playing 74 games in black and blue colors he moved to Juventus Turin. As for national team his debut took place in 1997. In his career he has played in World Cup (1998, 2002, 2006 ) and European Championships ( 2000, 2004 ). He is the vice-champion of Europe from the year 2000 and the world of champion from 2006. For sure he is an important feature in the team. In 2006 after degradation of Juventus to Serie B he moved on a fee transfer with Emerson to Real Madrid. He’s been awarded several times, e.g. in 2006 for the Best Player in Europe, the prize from France Football or the prize from the FIFA board. He doesn’t score a lot of goals because of his position on the pitch, however his record is 7 goals in two seasons in Juventus Turin. In national team he made 115 appearances but scored just one goal. Scoring is not his job, what he does is defending his goal and he does it perfectly.

9 June 2008 20:45 Netherlands 3-0 Italy
Pick: X2 Odd: 1.36: Centrebet
Bookmakers favour Italians in this game and I also think they should deal with Dutchmen, but nobody will give away a victory on this tournament for free, that is why they will have to strongly exert first to win any points in the group. The match will surely be even because two very good teams play. The players of Holland have made really good appearances in their clubs recently and they are praised. Italians, strengthened by the last victory on World Cup, surely aim at the next success. In my betting I will support Italians as everything is possible in this game, but the Italians shouldn’t loose this game.
13 June 2008 18:00 Italy 1-1 Romania
Pick: 1 Odd: 1.8: Sportingbet
If Italians won in the first round with Holland they could theoretically assure their place in quarter-final of EURO 2008 after this game already. Romania had overall very bad drawing and in this group it shouldn’t cause any trouble for ot0her teams. Romania, despite that it should be reconciled with the fact that they will not qualify from the group, won’t come on the tournament to be beaten in a terrible way but they will want to fight and appear on the international arena. I bet on Italy in this match, which is also a favourite of bookmakers.
17 June 2008 20:45 France 0-2 Italy
Pick: 2 Odd: 2.5: Expekt
Both teams don’t shine on these championships. If it was not for Italians draw with Romania they could already be leaving the tournament. However not used penalty still gives hope for advancing to quarter-final. They have already drew 1 : 1 with Romania and lost 3 : 0 with the team of Holland. Nobody here expected such play from World Champions. France, like Italians, weren’t able to beat Romanians and need to be satisfied with a draw which really complicates their situation. A draw in this match means knock-out for both teams. That is why both teams need to fight for a win which would bring them closer to quarter-final. Although both teams have the same goal balance 1 : 4, Italy seems to be a better team, what they proved in the match against Romania, which they drew very unlucky because a ref didn’t allow a rightly scored goal. In this match I bet on Italian national team because they need a win and good result form Holland to advance to the next round.
